Professor Beverly Gartland slated to retire in the Summer of 2006.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology offers majors and minors in both of its areas including a minor in forensic anthropology and gerontology. The department also offers a certificate in Applied Gerontology as well.

Mission Statement
The mission statement of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology is to provide quality teaching, scholarship and service to our students and to the community. The department emphasizes a scholarly dissemination of knowledge and the utilization of scientific methods, analytical skills, theoretical perspectives, research methods, and statistical procedures for describing and explaining social, cultural, and biological diversity of humankind. Sociology and Anthropolgy students develop, therefore, a unique appeciation of this diversity which, in turn, carriers over into their daily lives, ultimately affecting their future occupations, citizenship and general life experiences.
