Welcome to the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Youngstown State University.

The YSU Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies offers a wealth of productive studies for life and technical knowledge for career opportunities. Selected subjects can make an excellent minor complementing any career, and the major in philosophy or religious studies can be a sound preparation for a wide range of graduate programs.

The department provides basic and advanced courses in logic and in the history and problem areas of philosophy. It also offers courses in a variety of topics in religion, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach to the study of religious phenomena and a comparative study of religions. The department offers a bachelor of arts degree with a major in either philosophy or religious studies and a graduate certificate in bioethics.
