Introduction
Mathematics may be the major subject for the following degree programs:
Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), and Bachelor of
Science in Education (B.S. in Ed.). The B.A. and B.S. degrees may be
earned in eight semesters if students average 16 hours per semester.
In addition to satisfying the general University requirements, all
students majoring in mathematics must complete the following core courses:
Mathematics 1571, 1572, 2673, 3715, 3720, 3721, 3751, 4896 or 4897H;
also STAT 3743 and CSIS 2610.
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Arts
and Sciences, prepares students for careers in business, industry, government,
secondary school teaching, and continued study at the graduate level. The
department offers the BS and BA degrees in mathematics and the BS in Education
at the undergraduate level.
