Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta is the international honors society for people interested in history as an academic discipline. At Youngstown State University , we are a group of the best students in history who promote history as a discipline through various enjoyable and academic activities, which this year will include:

* A “Lose Your Prohibitions” fundraiser, with a theme focused on the ending of Prohibition in 1934

* A guided tour of Gettysburg ’s battlefields and a historic preservation tour of the town

* “History and a Movie” afternoons, where we watch films and discuss their historical significance

* 2 book and bake sale fundraisers and a trash and treasure sale at the end of the year

We also are involved in charity and community service efforts, including a hurricane relief effort for New Orleans this September which raised $1600 for Catholic Charities and the Human Society in support of their efforts. Similar efforts will be organized on a yearly basis in September.
