Notes
from Ronald Nelson, New CEA Treasurer
|
As newly elected treasurer of the CEA, I' d
like to thank Bill Sullivan and Earl Wilcox for their knowledgeable and
gracious assistance in helping me to become more familiar with the operations
of the organization. Although I have much to learn about my new responsibilities,
I shall work hard to fulfill them.
We shall be sending out membership forms late
in August. Unfortunately, it has been necessary to raise one-year dues
as follows:
-
$40 for individuals
-
$45 for joint (household) memberships
-
$12 for students
-
$25 for retired/part-time members.
Two-year memberships are as follows:
-
$70 for individuals
-
$75 for joint memberships
-
$18 for students
-
$30 for retired/part-time members.
Institutional ($30 for one year, $54 for two years)
and life membership fees remain the same:
-
Age 51 or older: $250
-
Joint, 51 or older: $350
-
Age 50 or younger: $350
-
Joint, 50 or younger: $450
This minimal rate increase (generally, $5) should
provide financial stability to the organization and ensure the prompt payment
of bills and the timely delivery of the CEA Critic, as well as the
fulfillment of the various obligations of the organization.
If I can be of service to you as treasurer,
please contact me by e-mail at nelsonrj@jmu.edu
or by phone ([540] 568-3755 or 568-6202) or by FAX ([540]568-2983).
Or if you'd like to talk dogs (I have five wonderful
ones), juggling, New Orleans jazz, Stephen Crane, Mona Van Duyn, Billy
Collins, Peter Taylor, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Joseph Conrad, or Richard Selzer,
please give me a buzz. Also I do a column for the IEEE Professional
Communication Society Newsletter entitled "Masters of Style."
I'm regularly looking for superb writers in the fields of medical writing,
business writing, government writing (there are some), and science writing.
If you have ideas that you'd like to share, please contact me.
