About
the STaRBURSTT Project
The Science Teaching and Research Brings Undergraduate Research Strengths Through Technology, STaRBURSTT,
consortium grew organically out of pre-existing regional
instrumentation consortia. Its goals are directed towards
systematically and
significantly changing the research and educational cultures at
Predominately
Undergraduate Institutions, PUIs, with the value added benefits flowing
from this change to our customers (the nation's major research
universities and R&D and production organizations) through the
currency of our
students. The project has a series of interlinked and naturally
synergetic components that will facilitate a major and simultaneous
increase in the depth of undergraduate research and educational
experiences.
Our members
are Predominantly Undergraduate
Institutions, PUIs, Community Colleges, CCs, Historically Black
Colleges and Universities, HBCUs, Hispanic Serving Institutions, HSIs,
and Tribal Colleges, TCs. We also collaborate closely with a
range of affiliate members such as PhD granting Universities,
Government Labs, Non-Profit Organizations, and Companies.

Primary Nodes are
indicated by the large sized red stars in the map above. Primary nodes
provide
substantial local and remote access to external users of their broad
range of modern instrumentation.
CURRENT Secondary Nodes are

the map above. Secondary nodes provide local test sites and/or local
and remote access fot
external users to their more limited range of modern instrumentation.
CURRENT User Sites are
indicated by the small green

the map above. User Sites have a history or expressed interest in using
the instrumentation facilities at the primary and secondary nodes.

are accademic (PhD
granting), governmental, or industrial collaborators and
provide support and/or local and remote instrumentation access.
Instrumentation
at the nodal institutions includes an
extensive array of the latest models (often available for both
remote and local operation at relatively low cost) and a wide range of
areas of faculty
expertise.
New
members are actively being
recruited: for participation in our research
and education projects; for other consortium building
activities including grant proposals; and as users of our
instrumentation facilities
