Preparation for the Future
In 1985 the Chronicle of Higher Education reported that
philosophy majors on average did significantly better on
the standardized tests that are used as a basis for
admission to law schools, graduate colleges of management
and business administration, and graduate schools.
Specifically on average philosophy majors did:
8.7%
better on the LSAT
11% better on the GMAT
17% better on the verbal section of the GRE
4.6% better on the quantitative section of the GRE
“In
this age of uncertainty, when today's vocational training
may be tomorrow's passport to redundancy, 'dare to think'
should be the motto pinned on the wall of every
undergraduate room and recruitment agency.”

Times of London, 8/15/1998)
