Abstract Information
Contributed papers dealing with all areas of physics education
and original research are solicited from both APS and AAPT members, for
both Oral and Poster sessions. Complete abstract submission instructions
can be found at http://www.aps.org/meet/meet-abstract.html.
We strongly urge you to proof you abstract before submission. Contributors
may submit abstracts in one of two ways:
Submitting abstracts via the web: to submit a contributed
abstract using the online web submission process, an author needs to know
two things: (1) the number and ordering of the authors and collaborations;
and (2) abstract content. The web page will guide you through the rest.
Try a test submission before submitting your abstract. Surf http://abstracts.aps.org
and select the meeting TEST. Follow the directions online to
create your own practice abstract. When ready to submit your abstract online,
select the meeting (OSS02) by clicking on the appropriate button. A form
will be created for you. Simply input the information.
Submitting abstracts via e-mail: Contributors must
create their abstract from an electronic template supplied by the American
Physical Society. The template and instruction files for contributed abstracts
can be obtained by sending e-mail to abs-request@aps.org
with the phrase request OSS02 in the message. If you have questions regarding
abstract submission, please send them to abs-help@aps.org
or to Dr. Mike Crescimanno.
If you wish your abstract to be published in the APS bulletin, it must
be submitted electronically.
The deadline for the receipt of all submitted abstracts
is March 1, 2002 by 5:00 PM EST
at APS headquarters.

General directions to the campus are below. Parking will be in the parking garage on the southwest corner of the campus at the intersection of Lincoln and Fifth Avenue Much of the conference will take place at Debartolo Hall and Debartolo Stadium which is close by. Show this announcement to the attendant and you will receive a parking pass that is good for both days.
From the East-South: Alternatively, one can
take Rt. 76 west until reaching the first exit inside Ohio, called Rt.
680 north. Following signs for Youngstown, about 15 minutes from the exit
ramp. Take the exit for 422 west and take the Wick Avenue (also called
Market Street) exit. At the top of the ramp make a left onto Wick Avenue
and go three lights, making a right onto Lincoln. After 2 blocks or so
you will see the parking structure on the right.
From Columbus you'd take Rt. 70 to Rt. 71 north (about
1.5 hours) to Rt. 76 and take that west through Akron and onto Youngstown
(another 1.5 hours). Beware! Rt. 76 turns into the Penna Turnpike
just before Youngstown...don't take the Penna Turnpike!! Instead,
follow the signs for Rt. 80 (east) Youngstown and follow the rest of the
