DelBene

Dr. Janet E. Del Bene

Professor Emeritus Physical Chemistry

330-941-3466
e-mail: jedelbene@ysu.edu
WBSH 5048

Ph.D.: University of Cincinnati, 1968

Post-doctoral: University of Wisconsin; Mellon Institute

Research Interests:
Ab Initio
quantum chemical studies of hydrogen bonding. Her recent work has focused on one- and two-bond spin-spin coupling constants across hydrogen bonds, generalizations concerning the signs of these coupling constants and their relationship to hydrogen bond type, and anharmonicity and
matrix effects on the IR spectra of hydrogen-bonded complexes.

Dr. Del Bene is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and was granted the first CERFnet Award for Excellence in Networked Applications in 1991. She recently received a Two-Year Extension for Special Creativity to her NSF grant, a BBVA Visiting Fellowship at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and the triennial National Honorary Member Award for an Outstanding Women Chemist from Iota Sigma Pi in 2002. She has also been a Visiting Professor at the University of Sydney, Australia.  She delivered the Maria Goeppert-Mayer Lecture at the University of California San, Diego and the San Diego Supercomputer Center in March, 2005. In addition to her research, Dr. Del Bene enjoys photography, music, and golf.
